Does your boiler need replacing?

< 1 minute read

These telltale signs could be a warning your heating system needs an upgrade

Higher bills

If your heating bills are creeping up and you’re not using your heating more than usual, it could be a sign that your boiler is losing efficiency. The good news is upgrading to a new A-rated boiler could save you money on bills.

Frequent call outs

Faults can and do happen, but if you find your boiler is breaking down more than once a year, it could be time to look at replacing it.

Yellow flame

If your boiler’s flame changes from blue to yellow or orange, you need to arrange an urgent service from a trusted engineer who will be able to advise on the best course of action.

Unusual noise

It’s not uncommon for central heating systems to make sounds that become familiar. However, if your boiler or radiators start to make a new humming or banging noise, it’s time to call an engineer.

Unpleasant smells

A sulphurous odour from your boiler is a sign of a gas leak and you must switch it off and call an engineer immediately. Any new or unusual smell from your boiler is a sign it needs attention and possible replacement.

If you have these or any other concerns about your boiler, talk to an engineer and make sure you book in an annual boiler service to ensure your boiler lasts as long as possible.
