Renewable Energy & Underfloor Systems for Leicestershire

As experts in renewable energy technology, we can install a wide range of products. Now is a great time to invest and reduce your bills!

Reduce your carbon footprint and your energy bills

At Lewington Heating, we’ve been installing renewable energy systems since we first launched our Lewington Renewable division in 2000. The installation of air source and ground source heat pumps (for which we won a Worcester Bosch Environment 2020 award) is our primary focus, mainly using the NIBE and Worcester brands, but we can also carry out solar panel servicing and repairs – which are perfect for new builds or people who live off the main gas grid.

In most cases, installing renewable energy sources means you can get money back from the government by applying to the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. You also pay VAT at the reduced rate of 5% on certain RHI-qualifying technologies, and can use renewable systems to reduce your energy bills while protecting the environment, so it’s win-win!

NIBE logo

With 18 models of domestic ground source heat pumps and 5 models of air source heat pumps available, NIBE is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of sustainable energy solutions.

Worcester Bosch Platinum Accredited Installer

Worcester Greensource air and ground source heat pumps and Worcester Greenskies solar water heating solutions are the perfect way to reduce your property’s carbon footprint.

MCS Logo

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is a government body for installation quality assurance designed to promote the use of renewable heating solutions.

Renewable Technology

We can install three types of renewable energy systems - air source and ground source heat pumps, and solar thermal. We also offer a solar panel repair service.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Why not use the outside air to heat your home? Even in freezing cold winters (as low as -15°C), an air source heat pump can extract heat from the air to heat your home and hot water.

Using a renewable source and a NIBE heat pump can reduce your heating costs by up to 65%. The exact figure will depend on where you live, the size of your house and the fuel you are replacing. Heat pumps can halve your home’s carbon emissions as there is no combustion process involved, which is great news for the environment.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pumps can heat your home using pipes buried in the ground to extract natural heat and provide heat and hot water all year round.

The benefits don’t stop there. Heat pumps can save up to 80% on your heating bills by harnessing free energy. It’s also environmentally friendly, producing lower carbon emissions than traditional heating systems.

Solar Water Heating

Solar water heating solutions, aka solar thermal technology, use panels on your roof to collect the heat from the sun to heat your water.

Solar thermal can be used alongside a regular immersion heater or boiler, which will kick in when your solar supply runs out. The more water you can heat in this way, the less money you’ll spend on heating bills – can you believe that most homes use around 25% of their total energy to heat water?

Harnessing a free energy source is great for the environment and offers typical savings of £55 to £80 a year and RHI funding of up to £300 a year, although the bigger your property and the more panels you have, the higher your eventual savings will be.

Solar Panel Repairs

Luckily for us here in the UK, solar panels work on daylight not actual sunshine! Solar PV generates electricity on the gloomiest of days as the panels absorb the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity, which can be used to power your household appliances and lighting. The Energy Saving Trust estimates a typical 4kWp system can reduce the average household’s annual energy bill by around £70, and you can even get paid for any extra electricity you generate.

Having installed many solar panels over the years, we have the expertise to repair, service and maintain your system to ensure it continues to operate efficiently.

Underfloor Heating

At Lewington’s we install hydronic underfloor heating systems, more commonly known as wet UFH.

Underfloor Heating Vs. Conventional Radiators

  • A silent, invisible source of heat
  • No cold spots or chilly corners
  • Takes up no space within the room itself
  • Very low maintenance – one checkup every 10 years
  • Versatile fitting for any shape room
  • More energy efficient than radiators
  • Ideal for new builds and extensions
